Self-guided tours of
the Mission are available
any time between 10:00 am
and 5:00 pm. Please check in
at the Gift Shop for
self-guided tour
information. No advance
reservation is required. The
admission fee for the
tour is $3 per adult, and $2
per student.
Group tours of 25 or more
are available with advance
reservation. Please contact
the Gift Shop at:
Old Mission San Jose
P.O. Box 3159

Please allow as much
advance notice as possible
so that we may schedule your
tour appropriately. We
will confirm your tour
date/time by mail, with the
rules and regulations for
visiting the mission. For
student groups, please take
the time to review these
rules before your
visit.
It is imperative that the
school confirm their tour
with the Gift Shop, one week
prior to the scheduled tour
date. Failure to do so may
result in your tour being
cancelled, and your
scheduled timeslot used for
another tour request.
If it is necessary to
cancel your tour, please
notify us as soon as
possible at 510-657-1797,
x100, and no later than
10:00 am on the scheduled
tour date. We have reserved
this time for you, and if
you are unable to use it, we
may be able to accommodate
another class.
We receive many tour
requests -- over 10,000 4th
grade students visit the
Mission each year, so our
schedule fills up rapidly.
Due to the limited number of
volunteer docents available,
we will do our best to
provide a tour guide, but
can make no guarantees. At
the time we confirm your
tour, we will confirm if a
docent tour guide is
available.
With tour guides, we can
handle two classrooms at one
time. However, if no tour
guide is available, only one
classroom may tour the
mission at a time.
All student/classroom
tours must have chaperones
of one adult for every five
students.
For the 2007-2008 school
year, the tour admission fee
is $3 per adult, and $2 per
student. Fees may be paid by
cash, check or credit card
(Visa, MasterCard) on the
day of the tour. We do not
bill schools, so please be
prepared to pay on the day
of your tour.
Note: flash
photography is not permitted
in the church or the museum.
It damages our fabrics and
paintings.
